This now gorgeous coffee table has a lovely story;

For many years it has lived on a busy working farm in the Forest of Dean.
Used in its dishevelled state as the bait room table serving a purpose there.
The farm has now slowed down and the farmers wife had her eyes on it being restored due to sentimentality and its unusual design.
She believed it was originally an apprentices piece.
And she was definitely correct.
As I began stripping it back I found lots of old chalk markings made by someone called John, bottom left, top right etc.
It also became very clear when I took it all apart to re clamp and glue it as the top and plinth was put on unevenly, overhanging one edge.
After a complete strip down it was time to Refunk this beauty. My brief was bare wood and green.
It’s been redesigned in a palette of different tonal greens and the bare wood fed with lots of Osmo oil.
It’s now living back in its forever home. Not in the Bait room but in the Farmhouse.
I love the sentimentality this
piece holds for its owners and feel privileged to have added to its story.
