Meet ‘Bernie’, The Bronze, Black and Burnt 1960s vintage chest of drawers.
This cute 1960s chest of drawers was in desperate need of some love and a new image. It was completely stripped back from it’s white gloss paint. The frame has been painted in Craig & Rose Bronze gold which has a deep bronze tone to it with a light shimmer which catches the light beautifully.
The side panels have been painted in Little Greene ‘Jack Black’ eggshell giving them a very low sheen.
The top was a thin bit of ply that was not in great condition. So I made a new top out of reclaimed wood and torched it using the ‘Shou sugi ban’ process, a traditional Japanese technique.
This has bought the bold grain out in it beautifully. The top has been sealed in a clear matt varnish.
This vintage Mid Century piece is still rocking its original handles. They’ve just had a sand down and re paint in ‘Jack Black’ too.
The drawers have been lined in a dark brown and black plaid ‘Mulberry’ soft wool fabric.
Bernie is a completely one off piece and not a large chest of drawers. The four drawers are perfect to house socks, pant, t-shirts etc . Dimensions;Height;77cmWidth; 42cmLength; 62cm
