This is what it looked like before it was completely stripped and refinished in a clear matt varnish three times with fine sanding in-between coats to give a super soft finish.

A stunning double length teak bookcase/cabinet by Herbert E Gibbs. The bookcase has ample space for books/glasses/records/trinkets with a double shelving unit each with adjustable height shelves houses behind  Original glass sliding doors.

Below is a handy long cupboard with small original brass handles and sliding veneer doors. Produced by Gibbs in the late 1950’s-1960’s this is solid, completely original and in super condition. At 84cm high it offers lots of flexible storage capabilities as a bookcase, drinks cabinet. sideboard, TV Stand, Media Unit etc. It can easily be accommodated in to living, dining or bedroom styling. The whole unit apart from the doors is made from solid light teak or possibly light oak. The doors are a teak veneer.

The shelves are removable by moving the original brass pegs/ supports and can be adjusted in height by around 4cm for each shelf. Fantastic and highly desirable mid century styling.  Clean lines and mid century styling that offers incredible value for money.

Herbert E Gibbs was a manufacturer of solid, good quality furniture, based in Edmonton, North London, who provided many top end furniture retailers in the fifties and sixties with bedroom, dining and occasional furniture.
