This is a piece of Kitchen Design history.

A complete restoration and redesign.

I found this piece covered in layers of navy and thick white gloss. It’s been a complete strip down restoration.

Bringing back the bare wood ply frame. Then refinishing in osmo oil

As I was stripping the piece I came across its original paint work. Which i have mimicked in the Redesign. 1950s green with a mellow yellow interior. A sentimental nod to its past.

I also uncovered the original ‘Hygena’ makers sticker. Making this one of the first Hygena Kitchen units. A piece of kitchen design history.

Unusually this piece had a mint condition enamel tray, which with a bit of elbow grease has come up as new.

The frosted striped glass is in perfect original condition

Here’s how I found her.

Drawers lined in Jyoti Bhomick ‘Pageant’ bark cloth for Heals of London. A rare 1960s fabric.

This piece has now found its forever home thank you for the interest.
