This chunky pine unit was covered in black varnish with lots of white grout that once held some tiles on plastered all over the top.

The whole unit has been stripped back and had its top and bottom plinth treated to the ‘Shou Sugi Ban’ ancient Japenese technique applied to them. By burning the wood you can bring out the grain and reveal some mesmerising natural patterns.

The sides and inner of the unit has been painted in The Little Greene Paint companies , ‘Jack Black’. I have applied each coat very smoothly and evenly so you can still just pick out the grain underneath when the light hits it in certain angles.

The two deep drawers are a handy size and could house computer games or films.

They have been painted in a luxurious deep bronze gold colour. The original knobs have also been painted in ‘Jack Black’.

A sturdy piece that suits it’s new dark look!
